I had an unconventional upbringing in the South, a childhood outdoors, bruised knees, crawling around in search of rocks, fossils, and creatures. As the family documentarian, I carried cheap disposable cameras, journals, and scrapbooks, which sparked my later studies of film photography and creative writing. Eventually, I headed west, where the rocks are bigger, to settle down in San Francisco. After obtaining a Master’s in Psychology, I experimented at the intersection of art, emotion, and painting, often sculpting paint inspired by textures in nature and using color to convey feelings and lived experiences.
