I was raised in Central Florida for most of my socially awkward childhood where I had an unconventional upbringing. I spent most of my time escaping to the outdoors where I took up photography and journaling.
As a young adult, I studied B&W film photography and creative writing between the Northeast and Florida. Eventually, I headed west on a cross-country trip where I settled down in San Francisco and obtained a Master's in Psychology. I began experimenting with oil painting, abstract art, and contemporary dance.
My interest in the intersection of psychology and art was largely influenced by my fundamentalist upbringing and the internal conflicts it creates around sexuality and interpersonal relationships. It wasn’t until I studied the Rorschach tests in my master's program that I became interested in the use of color as a tool to express hidden anxieties about one’s surroundings. In much of my art, color conveys the memories and emotions I’ve carried from places I’ve been or anxieties provoked by environmental dangers and feelings of oppression.
